Meet Information
The Great Gift Rock Climbs Meet – 6th – 8th June 2025
Following on from the centenary of the dedication of the plaque on Great Gable and the climbing of the 12 summits gifted by the FRCC to the National Trust in 1924 this meet looks to getting attendees climbing on as many crags on these 12 summits and at least climbing on one crag on each of the 12 summits.
Just to underline some ground rules for the weekend –
· This meet is focused on doing a rock climb on at least one crag on all the twelve summits.
· Getting to the top of the summits is not essential – however it would be nice, if over the weekend, all the summits are climbed by at least one party.
· Crags are apportioned for each hut – but overlapping would be OK as long as crags for all the other mountains for that hut are covered
The meet would be over a weekend of 8th June – the dedication day of the plaque in 1924.
There is a detailed list of 26 crags on the website in the meets section which can be considered to climb on.
Walkers as well as scramblers are welcome to attend the meet.
The following is a list of the crags on the 12 summits with suggested approach huts –
Brackenclose –
· Great End – Great End Crag, Spout Head Crag, Dolmen Buttress etc
· Broad Crag – Piers Gill Crag, Round How, Broad Crag and Terrace Crag
· Ling Mell – Piers Gill and Lingmell Summit Crag
· Kirk Fell – Boat How Crag
· Great Gable – Napes, Kern Knotts and Westmorland Crag
Birkness –
· Grey Knotts – Gillercomb

Not sure where Central Gully on Great End slots into the scheme of things – it is a scramble but also I would have thought could be classed as a rock climb.
Venues
As in 2024 we look to stay in the three huts – Brackenclose, Birkness and Salving House and go out from there or link across.
Needless to say this will need liaison as to who is planning on doing what. Will also look to at least one party from each hut climbing a route on one of the Great Gable crags.
Currently there are more members staying at Salving House so please consider staying at Birkness or Brackenclose – though members are welcome at Salving House
