In May 1944 following negotiations with the then owner of Raw Head Farm, Mr. Bulman, Raw Head Cottage became vacant. Despite wartime restrictions and the lack of electricity, working parties were organised and the conversion of the Cottage into a Club Hut began. This was the start of the FRCC establishing a base in the stunning Langdale Valley which was later to extend to the acquisition of Raw Head Barn.
Please come and join us for afternoon tea to celebrate 80 years of the FRCC at Raw Head on Friday 3rd May and Saturday 4th May.
Weather dependent, we hope to enjoy drinks, nibbles and cake on the picnic tables outside the Barn. A communal meal will not be provided (due to Laura’s lack of culinary skills!) so please do make your own arrangements for an evening meal.
Let’s mark this momentous occasion with a walk, a climb, a scramble or whatever else may appeal to you on the day!
Everyone very welcome!
Hope to see you there.
Pete and Laura
Hi Pete / Laura
Chris and me have booked in for 3rd and 4th May at Rawhead for the 80th Anniversary.
Is the tea on both the Friday and Saturday or just Saturday.
Appreciate need to provide own meals in the evening.
Hi Ron
It will be great to see both you and Chris on the 80th Anniversary Meet at Raw Head on 3/4th May.
Please don’t expect a full scale buffet as cakes, nibbles and bubbly are more in line with our culinary skills (well mine at least!). We shall be providing this on the Saturday afternoon only as some folk have said they may just drop by and say hello and Saturday seemed the most popular day.
Do let us know if you have any special dietary requirements although there will be an email going out regarding this a little later.
See you soon!
Laura and Pete
Hi Laura and Pete
Afternoon tea sound lovely. Val and I will pop in to join what I expect will be a large jolly party.
Thanks for doing the organising.
Cheers
John
