John died peacefully on 14th May in hospital in Halifax, West Yorkshire, aged 97. Member since 1945. Guidebooks Editor 1967-1978, Vice President 1968-1970, President 1970-1972, Honorary Member 1979, Advisory Trustee 2003-2014.
