Looking north-east from the Walna Scar car park The Bell is the micro-fell overlooking the entrance to the Coppermines Valley. The climbing is located on the steeper sections to the east of the scramble. The scramble itself is really worthwhile; an entertaining [50m Grade 1 **] with sound rock and makes a good start to a day linking the more serious scrambles further north.
Approach
P Walna Scar Road CP – Pay & Display. Take the track on the right towards The Old Man of Coniston and after 200m take a path on the right. Follow a wall down passing an abandoned building, cross a stream, then from the wall head left over boulders to the foot of the crag; in summer the dense bracken will be a hindrance
