The FRCC will be holding its Act of Remembrance on Great Gable on the 11th November. In addition, it is anticipated that many members of the public will choose to climb Great Gable that day. We are all asked to park considerately and not to leave mementos or memorials on the environmentally sensitive summit They are mainly composed of plastic and will not degrade. The Club is not responsible for parking arrangements but advice from the National Trust is available on their own website and also the BMC website.
President, FRCC
CAN YOU KINDLY CONFIRM THE TIME TO BE AT THE SUMMIT PLEASE FOR THE ACT OF REMEMBRANCE? THANK YOU
The President will address those on the summit two or three minutes before 11am so a good idea to arrive about 10:50.
The original idea that the summits be given to the nation came from my grandfather H.P.Cain, according to Marjorie Cain, my mother. He died in Langdale in 1927, when she was 19. He was also the driver for several of the “three summits in 24 hours” efforts. I have lots of photos.
Your comments on HP Cain are very interesting and it would be very helpful if the FRCC Archive could make a link to explore further and expand on recent acquisitions from Beatrice Haigh.
