Do you want to give something back to the Fells we love?
There will be a meet with FRCC and Fix the Fells on Monday 23rd and Tuesday
24th September 2024. We will be doing upland restoration work, most likely
footpath repairs. A possible project is the footpath on St Ravens Edge, which leads
up from the Kirkstone Inn to Stony Cove Pike. We will be staying at Beetham
Cottage. The group would have a maximum of 12.
We will meet up at Beetham Cottage on the Sunday night 22 nd September, so we are
all ready to start work on Monday morning. For those not needing accommodation
we can arrange to meet up at the Kirkstone Pass early on Monday morning. The
work will be supervised by Fix the Fells Rangers, who will also provide all the tools.
You’ll need old clothes rather than your best mountain gear and new Goretex. Safety
boots (with steel toe caps) will be needed for the footpath work, but you can borrow
these from me if required. Mountain activities (climbing, scrambling, fell walking) can
be arranged before or after the event for those interested. We’ll aim to have a
communal meal on the Monday night.
