Les’s easy guide to setting up the Infoodle app
Les’s Simple 4 Step Guide to installing the Infoodle App on a Smartphone
(Wanted to call it ‘Idiots Guide’, but the exec surprisingly exorcised that!)
Background: Members ask ‘What is Infoodle?’ and ‘Is it linked to the FRCC website?’ Infoodle is a database we’ve used for a year, superseding the old database. It holds your personal details, publications preferences, BMC number, club roles, join date etc and is kept up to date by me at database@frcc.co.uk
Importantly Infoodle is ‘stand alone’ and separate from the FRCC website, so separate login details are needed for each. Note if you advise change of email address, I update Infoodle and also tell the IT team to update the FRCC website, so hut booking confirmations go to your new email.
Plans are underway to launch a new FRCC website this year, hopefully integrated with Infoodle to avoid confusion of separate data and logins – bring it on!
So – we invite those who don’t yet have the super Infoodle App on their phone to have a bash at installing it; about half the membership already have.
Don’t panic – this does not require scary 2FA (two factor authentication) and QR code scan; those occur if you want full Infoodle website access on a PC. But there’s no need unless you want full control to edit your own data so preferably don’t bother – makes life easier if changes go via me. If you insist, contact the IT team not me!
WARNING: Everything below must be done on your SMARTPHONE using the four following steps. Do not try to install the App or request Password reset via desktop, laptop, tablet, FRCC website, Infoodle website or random 6 year old – it will end in tears!
1). Enter the App Store (iphone) or Play Store (Android).
Find and download the App ‘Infoodle’. It’s a turquoise square with infinity symbol (number 8 on its side) within it.
2). In the dim past you were sent an email with Username and Password to access the App, but you may have mislaid or forgotten it! So unless you know, email database@frcc.co.uk requesting a ‘Password reset’ for the Infoodle app. Reminder: you must receive this on your smartphone.
After I receive that request, you get an automated email ‘Dear so and so, welcome to the Infoodle family etc’ It includes Username (first name and surname with a full stop between – don’t forget that). Do NOT click the ‘website address link’. Only click ‘Please use this link to set a password and login’, do the biz and make a note of it on a bit of paper!
3). Click the Infoodle App and where it says ‘find your organisation’ enter FRCC and the club name will appear below, which you then click.
4). This takes you to a screen asking for Username and Password – both of which you now have! Enter these to login (Username is not case sensitive but Password is) and the app should open successfully. If you get messages about authentication it’s probably because you are trying to use a device other than a phone.
You won’t need to log in when you want to access the App again. However if you are careless – or wish to – you can logout via the App ‘Profile’ circular icon and dustbin symbol, in which case login again with the password you wrote down somewhere safe (as if), or follow the instructions in 2) above.
Go on give it a whirl – you know it makes sense – but if any problems let me know and if I can’t help, will pass you over to the ever helpful tech-savvy IT team.
