A pair of Ring Ouzels is nesting on the left side of The Slabs and a restriction has been implemented to give these red-listed birds the best chance possible of successfully rearing their young. The restriction applies to all the routes left of White Ghyll Chimney and will run from 13th May to 10th June. This is a short period of time as Ring Ouzels have a short breeding cycle: the young normally leave the nest about four weeks after the eggs have been laid. The situation will be monitored as these birds sometimes lay a second clutch of eggs in the same nest, if this is the case the dates of the restriction will need to be reviewed.
