As with all guides there is excitement when they first appear and now, the new Dow & Coppermines guide has been published. This highlights the delights and challenges of climbing there plus also commemorates the centenary of the first FRCC guide – the Red guide to Doe Crag in 1923.
The guide is in the small “Langdale” size more suitable for taking onto mountain crags. At a retail price of £22.50, with the usual discount for members, it is available on the FRCC website and in climbing shops.
Thanks to all who have been involved in it publication – it has taken a few years to bring it together.
Many superb routes are in the guide with, in particular Eliminate A, which was first ascended 100 years ago on 17th June 1923.
There will be a special reception in Coniston on 17th June to commemorate the 100 years of FRCC guides; the centenary of the ascent of Eliminate A and also the publication of this latest guide. This is open to members and guests – details are available on the FRCC website or contact Ron Kenyon – email – ron@jaggedlakes.plus.com
