Is this the way to the Theatre? 25m S 4b ☆
Posted by: Sam Collins, 25.07.201923.07.2019, S Collins, T Young Climbed in a failed attempt to find a dry, slime free way into the Amphitheatre. Follow grassy rakes out of Easter Gully scrambling first right and then left to a large flake belay about 5m to the right of the huge chockstone below the Amphitheatre. Move out left onto the wall then up the obvious rightwards slanting crack to it’s top. Continue up the crackline on the left direct passing a small grassy ledge to an exposed finale. Very well protected, enjoyable climbing (if a little dirty). Descend down E Buttress.
This sounds like Black Buttress [21m S 1947].
Maybe although the routes starts from below and to the right of the Amphitheatre. From memory you would have to traverse a fair way right to start the route from the amphitheatre and even then I think you would be starting it from half-way up the route
