Mirk Cove Icefalls 36m III, 4
Posted by: Trevor Langhorne, 16.01.201811.01.2018, SJH Reid, JF Hughes (Alt) These three short icefalls form readily in a cold snap and can be linked or climbed individually.
Climb an iced slab in the centre of the back of the cove (12m, 3).
Up and right are two icefalls.
Climb the longer right-hand one via a short chimney (12m, 3).
From the top of the buttress, 150m horizontally left is a larger buttress with an easy gully bounding its left side.
From a short way up this gully, climb a steep icefall on the right (12m, 4) to a large turf ledge. Exit the turf ledge by an easy-angled rock groove on the far right. An open snow gully up and right leads almost to the summit of Scoat Fell.
