Rebounder 27m VS 4c ☆
Posted by: Martin Scrowston, 01.06.201825.05.2018, M Scrowston PC Bennett An ingenious line that avoids the vegetated chimney crack with a steep start and exit. Start 1m left of Trambiolina at an obvious narrow green chimney. Climb the right edge of the narrow chimney for 6m until a bridging step across left gains access to a good ledge (possible belay) Follow the broken slab above to its apex, a committing step up and left leads to a short diagonal crack through the final headwall. Line 1 on the photodiagram, Trambiolina is Line 3
The topo that goes with Rick Graham’s comments (below both photodiagrams) is shown immediately below. The colour image showing lines 1 – 3 (as noted in the description for Rebounder) is below that. An exasperated website editor can’t get the two topos to display in the correct order!
Thanks Paul, topo looks good to me. No doubt you will have to amend it when Ted and Rick have straightened out the line as usual.
Job done, Martin. Ted and I have revisited the crag and have now used almost all the holds.
On the topo shown with the description for Rebounder
A. Prudence E1 5b
B. Thin finger crack HVS 5b
C. Hand to fist crack VS 4c
D. Natural line of Rebounder
E. Link up of Rebounder start to finish of Bitter End
F. Start right of Trambolina and climb the headwall diagonally leftwards using a flakehold fortuitously central to an otherwise blank section. HVS 5a.
G. Crack in headwall above MFB abseil point. Excellent short crack. About Severe. We did a low start but probably best just climbed from the abseil maillon.
H. Linking the start of Bitter End to the Finish of Rebounder gives a good 40m pitch.
J. The easy chimney/slab linked to the start Prudence would give a good Severe.
