Lazarus is a very good route and makes a great variation start to C Ord’, well worth a star or two, but I think it should be returned to the grade it had in the 1994 guide – V Dif. Myself and Keith Phiz soloed up Lazarus and back down C Ord’ on Centenary Saturday but the feeling was that Lazarus definitely had a couple of more committing sections, especially if you are climbing in the Dif/V Dif/Sev range.
We climbed the first pitch of Lazarus (as in the old book, 1994) as a start to Southern Slabs. I definitely thought it was worth V Diff. Good climbing on rough rock with no polish. Not overly well protected though. Makes a good start to Southern Slabs, instead of scrambling up.
