Tinkerbell 14m E3 6a

The leftmost groove of the amphitheatre. Easy access to the route from ‘The Bell’ scramble, which is just to the left of the route. Start at a pinnacle, then follow the right slanting groove (crux and pre-placed wire at 6m.). From the top of the groove finish up the steep juggy corner up to the left.

  1. Just got the Dow & Coppermines guide. I’m a bit mystified.

I discovered the Bell and did this route somewhere around the late 1990s with Brian Holloway and registered it at Rock and Run.
    I named the route “Ignimbrite.”

A few weeks later I got “Stuart “Woody” Wood to visit the crag with some of his mates. He did the second ascent and confirmed the grade as E2 5c.
He then did a direct line from the same start point at around E3?

I then showed him a steep outcrop further down to the left. From what I remember he did a couple of hard diagonal cracks around E4.

Strange those new routes have also not been picked up?

    Jeff.

  2. Follow up to my post 11th June 2023.

After frank and helpful discussions with Tom we decided that my route “Ignimbrite”…done around 1992 starts just to the right of Tinkerbell and joins Tinkerbell near the top at the juggy corner.

    Jeff.
