A member reports that a bridge has been washed away:
“Walkers from Stool End to Red Tarn, or the other way, will find that an important footbridge marked on the map has been swept away. No doubt in dry conditions most members could get across Oxendale Beck easily enough, but after heavy rain it is not possible to do so safely.
So, there it is. Since I had walked from Coniston via Blea Tarn and was planning to get back up Wet Side Edge and Swirl How, I was a bit dumbfounded. I don’t think it was just my elderly tottering that made the beck unsafe to cross. The ruins of the bridge are 100 yards downstream!”
